COMEBACK !

Can't believe after two years of hiatus from the blogging arena, I'm back again ! hahaha. Ok, I'm exaggerating. I'm not even an active blogger before this. I just happened to have this blog because of Prof Jaya ! He made me (and the rest of my classmates) to create this site and commanded us to post our "masterpiece" which we produced during his class. I read them before posting this and I can say that I am quite a creative writer ! * wekkkkkkkkk * Nope. not at all. Just to make myself feel better wiwiwiwi and reminiscing the good , dope days when I was in UPM hehe.

BTW, I found the urge to write again *virtually* after I talked to my pal Iqram with the Q. He said that we can make money via blogging. He explained about the amazon or something and I'm kind of interested. Actually I love to bebel here on blog, should have done this long time ago and write about my experiences, memories and etc because sometimes we tend to forget what happen in our life and blog helps to keep those precious moments. Sadly so many things have passed, and there are too many things to write if I am to track them. I blame my laziness for this matter huahuahua. My fault people, not others. So maybe, just maybe, from today onward I shall be more active by posting lots and lots of entries *fingers crossed*

Today is the final day of my 2016 Chinese New Year holidays *sigh*. Works are waiting for me tomorrow and until I retire ! TTT___TTT pray for me ok ! Till then, gotta have my late lunch now. Bye !

Christmas poem - "Lonely Christmas"

It's Christmas Day,
But it’s so lonely,
It’s so cold because I’m alone,
It’s a little depressing,
A Christmas spent alone,
Should I just leave somewhere?

On this silent night,
On this holy night,
I stay up all night alone once again,
Because I’m lonely,
It’s so cold, cold, cold,
It’s a little depressing,
A Christmas spent alone,
Should I just leave somewhere?

Horror Story

Write a frightening story beginning with:
The dead tree branches cracked as I hastily walked in the dark woods...
Now that I came to my conscience, I think it was a bad idea to go to Grandma’s house through the old road. There was an event in town that night and all the main roads were congested with all sorts of vehicles. Therefore, I decided to use the old road. On my way there, my car suddenly running out of gas! I lose control and I fell down into the cliff. The night was very dark, not even a moonlit shone my way. I got out of my car and started walking to find the way back.
As I was walking, I saw an old mansion right in front of my eyes. I thought maybe I could ask for food and shelter before I continued my journey in the daylight. I tried knocking, three times in fact, but nobody answered. Then, I turned the door knob and it was not locked! Without thinking, I rushed into the mansion because it started to rain at that time. It was really huge, dusty and somehow creepy to me. Slowly, I walked to the fireplace and saw some skulls were hung on it. I felt uneasy and wanted to get out of the house. I ran as fast as I could to the door, but then I fell down into a hole. I think I passed out for a few minutes. When I opened my eyes, I was covered with dust and wood crumbs. There, about 5 meters away from me, was a giant glass jar filled with a girl of about middle 20s of age. Her eyes were closed and she was surrounded with light green liquid. And also, there were wires everywhere around her body.
Then, I saw a fridge by the glass jar. I rushed to open it, hoping that there will be some food. But to my horror, it was full with human organs! You name it – lungs, intestines, eyes, hearts, kidneys... I felt dizzy and wanted to throw up. There was a board there, written on it was, “Plan to Make Anna Lives”. There were bullet points under the big title and one of it was “to kill as many people and attached it to Anna”.
As I was reading the rest of the plan, the door was pushed by someone. I was so startled and immediately froze at the spot where I was standing. A man came to me, with a bat in his hand. In a second, I can feel a hard and fast knocked behind my head. I passed out for the second time. When I woke up, there was a light above me. My mouth was plastered; my hands and legs were tied. The man looked at me and said, “You are one unlucky human to bump into me! I must kill you to save my Anna!!!!” I can’t say anything and tears started to fill my eyes. He rose up an axe towards my neck. I closed my eyes and screamed inside my heart, prayed very hard that a miracle will happen. After that, I blacked out and that was the last thing that I managed to remember.

Suddenly, I heard somebody was calling my name. I opened my eyes and thank God, I was still alive! According to my father, there was a bunch of four men saw me fell down into the cliff and they tried to rescue me. They followed me all the way to the mansion and I was not aware at all about their presence. When the mysterious man tried to chop me with the axe, they captured him and punched him hard and tied him with ropes. Then, they called the police and ambulance and reported everything. The mysterious man was actually a doctor. He tried to rescue his wife whom died from cancer. He became insane, killed people and went after their internal organs to make his wife alive again. It was a very gawry experience that I have ever had and from that day, I swore that I will never ever use that old road anymore.

Self Reflection on the Teaching of Writing Skills Course

For the Teaching of Writing Skills subject, we have Professor Dr. Jayakaran Mukundan or we refer to him as Prof Jaya, as our lecturer. Knowing him as a funny and sporting lecturer, I am so glad that he will be teaching us. In his class, I have gained a lot of new knowledge on writing skills. I have learned things such as approaches in teaching writing to students, creative writing such as poems and also short stories.
The very first thing that I learned was on process writing and product writing. Those two are the most common approaches that teachers use to teach writing. I know those two topics are very important because we learned it for several weeks, and they came out in our first test. Every week, Prof Jaya will repeat the same thing until all of us become immune with both process and product writing. Not only we learned the characteristics, we also applied the approaches through our writing. We did write an essay by going through the process approach. It was a horror story which Prof Jaya gave us the introduction and we have to continue the storyline according to our creativity. For the task, we were to discuss in group, and then wrote down the story and hand it to Prof Jaya. I really like doing discussion in group for a lot of new and creative ideas can be created from each and every one of us. This way, our story will be more interesting.
After the essay writing, Prof Jaya informed us that there will be a writing conference between us and the Master/PhD students – Dr. Vahed, Ali and Peisha. Each of us was given one mentor and I got Peisha. I was very excited for I know her personally. She asked me a couple of questions regarding writing and commented on my essay. She really helped me in improving to write better product in the future. She gave me some useful tips to come out with interesting stories such as inject more feeling, add in more detail and so on. I thanked Prof Jaya for having this session because it really helped me a lot in my writing.
Another thing that I learned is the creative writing, which is poem. To be frank, I am not a big fan of poems. I dislike how I do not able to interpret the underline meaning of them. But in this class, it was the other way around. We did listen to some examples of the poems, but the highlight is we wrote them by ourselves. So, it was not a problem for me to interpret them since I wrote them by myself. I also get to learned many forms of poems such as acrostic, cinquain, haiku, sense, hello..goodbye, I’m old enough….I’m young enough, diamante, I wish and free poem. There are so many types of poems that we can produce. I will certainly to teach my students all those kind of poems so that they will fall in love with poems like I do now.
Apart from that, Prof Jaya taught us that our natural surrounding can be our main source of inspiration in writing poem. There was a time when he asked us to go near the lake at DKFPP to write haiku. Another time, he asked us to use fruits as our poem subject. There was one day; it was raining during our class. So, Prof Jaya asked us to write a free poem on the gloominess of the day. I was so impressed on how the nature alone can contribute to my collection of poems. Although my poems are not as good as the famous poets’ poems, but I am really proud of each and every one of them.
Besides that, we also learned about short stories. We get to know about maturity in writing – how we think when we are doing our essay, how to give freedom to students to produce an essay beyond the syllabus and et cetera. Same as the horror story that we did earlier, we were given the introduction only and we have to come out with our own story. But, this time around, it is an individual task.
The other thing that I learned from this class is getting to know students problems in writing. Prof. Jaya sometimes mentioned about it orally in class. But last week, we knew it from a movie viewing. It is about a student who suffered from dyslexia. Not only we can release our tension by watching it, but, we get to learn the techniques to help those kinds of students. It is a very useful input for us as future teachers. And next week, we are about to watch another movie called “The Dead Poet Society”. We already watched some of the clips of the movie and it was very interesting! I’m hoping to become that type of excellent teacher one day.
I enjoyed playing games in this class, which can also be used as a part of the lesson. The other day, we played a game where we wrote a question on a paper, fold it and pass to the next person. Then, without looking at the question that we got, we have to write down the answer to our own question. Of course there were some answers that are way out of the line, but all answers are somehow vice versa and totally got the questions! I really like the game and I secretly hope that Prof. Jaya will introduce more fun games in the class.
Last but not least, it was Prof. Jaya who brought us to the International Conference on English Language Teaching (ICELT) which was held at Equatorial Hotel, Melaka. We went there for free! There, we met a lot of excellent people such as. We learned about drawing, approaches in teaching poems through singing and sounds, story-telling techniques and many more. We really enjoyed every sessions that we went for the input will give very big helps to us in the future. We can apply what we learned there in school later on.
I have gained a lot in this class. Sadly, this will be the final semester that we get to learn with Prof. Jaya. I will surely miss this class, the jokes, the conference and everything related to writing. Thank you so much Prof. Jaya for all the things you have taught us!
